Summer Season 6/27/2011 – 9/4/2011 ***** In this issue: THERE’S A LOT IN THIS ISSUE! Please pay special attention to the dates that are being announced herein… 1) Lessons: Sundays 2) Day Camp #2 3) 3rd Annual Camping Trip 4) Rank Promotion Test: Summer Test ***** 1)Lessons: Sundays Lessons are in full swing! Make sure you are bringing these things to EVERY class! Things to bring: ALL ARCHERY EQUIPMENT! FINGER GUARD NOTEBOOK! Water Sunscreen Pants (With belt… preferably) Lace up shoes, with socks Appropriate weather apparel (i.e. Jacket, gloves…) SUNDAYS! After some deliberation, it has been decided to open up some Sunday shooting opportunities. Here is how it’s going to work: 9am – 10am: Group Class Cost: $5 drop in fee (MSD does not apply) Group class is a chance to pack as many shooters on the range as we can and refine our group shooting techniques. 10:15am – 10:45am: Breathing Class Cost: $5 drop in fee (MSD does not apply) The breathing class is a class designed to flush out the benefits of having good breathing control while shooting. This class will have limited space per week (8 Students) and the seats will be filled on a first come first serve basis. 12:15pm – 3:15pm: Open Range Cost: $5 Drop in fee (MSD does not apply) Open Range is an opportunity for students to come and work on their techniques in a self paced and self administered environment. If you want more information about either of the Sunday classes or how the Open Range will work, please feel free to contact me at your next lesson or by phone or email… (The contact info is provided below) ***** 2) Day Camp #2: “Return of the Martial Archer” Dates: 7/18/2011 – 7/22/2011 Registration Deadline: 7/17/2011 Times: 9:00am – 12:00pm Cost: $150/ student (MSD Apply) Location: Jay Street Range (3518 Jay St. Wheat Ridge 80033) Activities will include: Archery! Sword Training Ropes, Knots & Tarps The Mega Complex! Ropes Skills Nunchuka and more!!! What to bring: WATER! SUNSCREEN! Archery equipment Stick Sword (Tarps Kit) Cord for “The Finger Puzzle” NOTEBOOK! Appropriate Field Apparel (Pants, lace up shoes, socks) !!!!PARENTS!!!! If your student does not have some, or any, of the more particular items (i.e. stick sword, tarps kit…) Don’t worry… there will be plenty of equipment for everyone and if this is their first day camp, this is where they will pick up a few of these items. Also, I will be having numerous water breaks and one snack break consisting of fresh fruit and juice/lemonade… If your student has ANY food allergy, other special dietary needs, or any other medical needs… PLEASE let me know ASAP, so we can address those needs. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please contact me, I’m always happy to take the necessary time to hear from you and discuss what we’re doing! ***** 3) 3rd Annual Camping Trip Pre-planning Meeting This is an all family meeting where we will be discussing the details of the 3rd Annual Camping Trip and what it means to camp Golden Archery style. Please note that the times have changed for the Family and student meetings. The new times are available below. Date: 7/24/2011 Times: All Family Meeting: 3:15pm – 4:15pm Student Meeting: 4:15pm – 4:45pm Location: Jay Street Range (3518 Jay Street, Wheat Ridge, 80033) What to bring: 1. A positive attitude. 2. Students with knives – bring your knife 3. Compasses – If you don’t have one already wait to see what we use and then decide if you want one for the trip or not 4. NOTEBOOKS & PEN/ PENCIL This meeting may not take the full hour and a half but be prepared with questions and lets talk about how the weekend is going to flow, we’ll dismiss early if we get everything done! 3rd Annual Camping Trip Dates: 12:00pm 8/5/2011 – 1:00pm 8/7/2011 Veteran Archers Call to Arms is 12:00pm on 8/4/2011 Location: Lost Park Cost: $100/student (MSD does apply) Details: (We will be going over all of the logistics of the camping trip at the Pre-planning meeting…) The Annual Camping Trip is an opportunity for us to apply all the skills we are practicing throughout the year. This is our BIG event! We will be up early and pushing through the day with activities in Archery, Swords, Ropes & Tarps… etc. THIS IS AN EVENT TO BE A PART OF FOR SURE! ***** 4) Rank Promotion Test: The Summer Test Date: 8/?/2011 TIme: 10:00am – 1:00pm Location: Jay Street Range (3518 Jay St. Wheat Ridge, 80033) Cost: $20/ student (MSD do not apply) Details: This is an invite only event. Not all students will be attending this event. If you have been invited to the rank test please be ready with/for the following: Essay: Ask Mr. Johnson about what topics are acceptable and submit prior to Range Test Written test: Must be completed before the Range Test Range Test: Testers only ***** As always, if you have any questions comments or concerns… PLEASE feel free to contact me.
