January Newsletter
It’s SEMINAR SEASON! Well… we’re gonna have some Leather Workshops too…
The first of which is the Science of Archery. In this riveting seminar we will be exploring some Physics (KE, PE, trajectory, projectiles, mass, friction, force, impact, etc), AND some Human Anatomy & Kinesiology (Major muscle groups, neurological facilitated pathways or “muscle memory”, posture, walking gaits… etc.)
This information is good for us to know for many reasons. Chief among them, we gain a deeper insight into the mechanics of archery and should be looking for how that knowledge can aid us in our ability to shoot.
Other benefits include becoming better at telling others about archery and thereby supporting our industry, hobby, sport… passion? We will also take our minds into some of the subjects we will be confronted with as we approach higher levels of education. Not to mention that we will be using our brains, yet again, the benefit of which should be inherent.
If I have missed a benefit, please feel free to let me know so I can add it to the list.
Additionally, we will go over some Winter Season training methods that we can all use to stay sharp and in touch with our archery skills and techniques.
I know that I have a keen ability to talk… a lot. I will definitely be applying some new teaching techniques this season in order to help this very dry information come to life!
Come, participate and give me your feedback!
This seminar will be January 16th, 2011 from 2-4pm and the cost is $20 per person. Parents if you want to attend the cost is $0 per parent. Please RSVP with a total head count by January 13th, 2011 so I can prepare.
Parents! I will try to be finished on time; however, I will also be using this first seminar to gauge how long I will need for some of the subsequent seminars…
Students! For this seminar you will need to bring your notebooks (if I have not given you the right one let me know so I can have one ready for you), something to write with, your bow and finger guard (if you have that equipment), and a positive attitude that makes everyone WANT to be around you.
AND…. January 30th 2-4pm is the 1st Leather Workshop. In this workshop we are going to work on the Water Bottle Sling! The cost is $20/ student and the multi-student discount applies. Additionally there is a $16.00/student cost for the materials. (The multi-student discount does not apply to the materials cost.) If you need help working out the cost for your students, let me know.
I am excited to get started again and have been looking forward to seeing everyone again!
SEE YA SOON!
